The Department has implemented the role of the Academic Advisor to assist undergraduate students in completing their studies in the most efficient and effective manner. Each Academic Advisor determines the approach and methods used to support their assigned students. As a minimum standard, the Department requests Academic Advisors to inform and guide students on the following:

  • Course content, participation in labs, use of departmental facilities, challenges, methods of course evaluation, and encouraging students to engage in tests, labs, exercise series, supplementary tutorials, etc., that help them understand and pass the course.
  • Content of elective courses and discussion with students about their personal interests before final course selection.
  • Discussion of exam results.
  • Selection of a thesis topic.
  • Postgraduate studies (within the Department, in Greece, or abroad).
  • Career prospects (opportunities in the public and private sectors, self-employment, job positions abroad).
  • Discussion of any family, personal, or other issues that may hinder their studies.

All undergraduate students, regardless of their year of study, are encouraged to utilize the Academic Advisor system to address any difficulties they encounter, particularly during the core phase of their studies.

Additionally, students of the Department can seek free support for personal issues beyond their academic challenges through the University of the Peloponnese’s Counseling and Psychological Support Structure – WeCare (https://wecare.uop.gr/).
